5 Flooring Trends to Consider When Purchasing Your Next Home in 2018

If you’re in the market for a new home this year, you know it’s not an easy task to find the perfect house. One major concern we see clients face when home shopping is determining whether they want to keep the original flooring or replace it with something else. It’s a tough choice to make. We’re here to make the decision a little easier by discussing favorite flooring trends we’ve seen recently – and what we think will be hot in 2018.

1). Grey “Wood” Tiles

This is hands-down our favorite flooring trend. Porcelain tile that mimics the look of real hardwood is a homeowner’s dream come true. It’s durable, modern, and attractive. Also, grey is a color we see trending for years to come, as it pairs naturally with almost any color scheme.

2). Eco-friendly carpeting

Modern homeowners are looking for a carpeting option that’s comfortable and earth-friendly. According to HGTV, “carpet industry leaders such as Mohawk Industries continue making inroads into the green market by producing carpeting that features fibers made with corn sugar instead of nylon.” This is a huge step towards making our planet a better place (while staying trendy at the same time).

3). Parquet Hardwood

You may be thinking this is an outdated trend, but we predict it will make a comeback. The unique shape and design brings more attention to the rich coloring of the wood flooring, and we’re loving how this looks in a formal dining room or front entrance area.

4). Wide Plank Floor

Wood flooring is trending; that’s a given. One of the more intriguing twists on this classic look uses wood planks that are just over a foot wide to give it more of an authentic look. This trend has historically been popular in cabins. However, it’s also a great look for modern homes in the city or the suburbs.

5). Bamboo

Did you know that bamboo is the strongest flooring on the market? It’s also one of the eco-friendlier options. Bamboo is starting to become more prevalent in the mainstream flooring industry. Since bamboo does best in dry, temperate climates, the Phoenix area is ideal for its longevity.
